I understand how backwards that may sound but yes, I think that is cause of its simplicity, it doesnt have too many places to break, so as long as you figure out how to use it, it will work.
It is also more forgiving to the community and allows them to help (and empower) themselves without many hurdles.
I also uses it from time to time and personally, i find slackware it be more forgiving for user mistakes.
