That damn Melbourne community has posts with 400+ comments. Honestly, what is going on here?

It’s the middle of winter, so I know we’re all still surfing and drinking in the beer gardens while they have nothing to do but chatter while they freeze their nuts off, but still…put some damn effort in people.

I felt r/Sydney was not anywhere as active compared to r/Melbourne and the dynamic is probably going to be the same here… but when visitors asked for help that’s when it seemed most active. Oh and when the Surry Hills building caught on fire. Maybe let’s start with a what to do in Sydney thread!

Absolutely spot on about the relative dynamics of the subreddits. And I think r/melbourne was promoting a link to aussie.zone for a while which explains the big shift there.

However…I’ve got a packet of matches if you’ve got a spare building!

I was having a look through one of their daily threads, and there was a bunch of active /r/melbourne people that were basically saying they had migrated to lemmy. They were contacting each other on reddit (PM I guess) and then just joining up.

Mass migration lol. So they 3 times more subscribers and seems like these were the core of /r/melbourne.

Brisbane seems pretty active now too. Maybe they did the same thing an got a core group of Redditors to migrate at the same time?

Is a bit depressing how dead the Sydney group is.
