Basically they created and profited off a market of skin trading. When other companies accidentally create an illegal skin economy they’re quick to shut it down. Valve was like “nah lets make a quick buck off of it instead” People Make Games has great videos about some of the other fucked up things they do if this piques your interest.
There’s a steam deck discord that was muting people and banning some people for even saying the word “emulation”
The mods were quite scared and authoritative and acting powerless at the same time.
