Visiting here from Reddit’s r/arduino before the June 12th blackouts. Really liking how Lemmy operates but notice the Arduino community here is less than sparse. Given time, hopefully we can build this community for Arduino enthusiasts who are displeased with Reddit as a platform. I hope to see this place grow over time!

I haven’t been a part of the Arduino subreddit for very long - but I’ve never seen “Africa” performed with stepper motors before! If nothing else, check out the post lower in this community!

    Welcome!

As long as people post, engagement will arrive sooner or later.

Right. I’m working my way through the end of the McWhorter series and have started developing some projects for around the house. The Arduino community has been awesome as far as helping a beginner put the pieces together. For example, I live on the beach and my house is on steel stilts about three feet off of the ground. In the winter, it gets very chilly and pipes have frozen before. I have developed a temperature sensor with alarms and indicator lights to give me advance warning that the temperature in the pipes under the house is approaching freezing. Thinking of monitoring the pipes both under the house and underground just above the frost line. Just need to build an enclosure. By the way, are there specific temperature sensors or thermistors that are better suited for monitoring temperatures underground? I assume I could use any sensor as long as I can wrap it or seal it in some way to protect it from ground moisture. I was thinking about a foot down into sand/dirt.

It’s going to take a long time for migration to happen especially in smaller communities that don’t have opportunity to grow. Obviously posting more will help, but we kind of also need to spread the word back on main Reddit and also YouTube and other interest focused boards.
