Grill dodged a bullet with this one. This anon seems to be really dumb. What kind of person never opens a gifted book, let alone one that is a gift from a girl? A person that doesn’t read shit, that kind of person. She was clearly above him.

Yeah I think this is obvious, anon clearly didn’t give a shit about the gift so it’s a clear sign for her to move on.

Well, I got one once during a secret santa event. Put it on my to read list and never came around to it. Then I lent it to a friend and he told me, that there is a note for me inside, that I didn’t know about.

Could’ve just never got around it. “I’ll check it out tomorrow”, then days turn to weeks and so on. Happens

Plot twist: the grill who gave him the book was actually just the lady who works at the books store. The “romantic note” was a receipt for the 10 volumes of Shota manga Anon had them special order for him. When he saw that it said “please shop with us again” at the bottom he almost fainted.

100% deserved, at least open the fucking gift and don’t lie to her about doing so. Girl dodged a huge bullet.

How is it her fault that he couldn’t even be bothered to open a present from someone?

He sounds like he deserves to be single.

Well it’s a good thing these stories are fake. The first time I heard it was from a standup comic where his grandma gave him a bible when he went off to college and she said to read it any time he needed money. In the pages was a note telling him to fuck off.

Anon should’ve probably at least opened the book but she also put all her hopes into that single note. Pretty silly move

you mean she could’ve avoided wasting money on a book? I guess, but confessing through this way is kind of cute.

I mean yeah, simplest would’ve been just to ask. The book and the note was a cute idea but didn’t quite play out the way she was hoping lol

Gifting someone something and taking the time to write a thoughtful note is a very nice thing people do for each other.

Typically you respond in kind with a “thank you for the gift and the card/note/well wishes attached”.

These are what would be considered “polite social norms”.

The girl slipping a note in to the gift and saying her feelings also is not crazy. It can be hard to put yourself out there.

HOWEVER if someone straight snubs your gift it’s gonna be shitty even if it’s from a friend. He snubbed her, she got the message even if he didn’t know he was answering.

This is normal human behavior folks.

This would haunt me forever til near suicide. I’d remember this whenever I feel alone…which would be hourly.

Edit: I’m talking about that missed once in a lifetime opportunity by being stupid.

No, it wouldn’t because you would at crack open the book. It’s extremely common to write a note in the first few pages of a gifted book.
