One of the many odd species that inhabit the land of Tanzanite, the Aleta are a giant species of bipedal moths that roam around the southern jungles of Yha’von, being one of several insectoid species found within the region, both in the jungles surface and into the depths of the earth.
They’re noted as being a passive race that don’t do much to directly harm travelers, they like big hugs and usually try to offer travelers guidance through the unforgiving jungles.
They often live near places with alot of natural light, being about as enthralled by these as real moths, such as underground mushroom caves deep in Yha’von, usually hiding in giant Mahogany trees to get away from the Sabiki ans Faras, which are a species of giant mind reading poison slugs and praying mantis respectively.
They, much like all the bug creatures within Yha’von, don’t speak any human languages, so no English, Greek, etc etc, so I hope you’re classes included courses on how to speak Moth.
Artwork is on the older side by around 5 years or so, so it ain’t the best quality but it’s what I got. Design and colors vary wildly but constants include giant black eyes, as all of the big buggos are drawn closer to realistically rather than anthropomorphized, a big abdomen, multiple arms, and a decent amount of fluff, though the amount varies.
Do any young Aleta ever wish to leave Yha’von and travel/learn about the world? Has it ever happened? If so, what was the response from the rest of the community and the outside world?
Plenty do, especially those that live underground and wish to see the sunlight, but their experiences with humans… well it’s not 100% terrible, but not many really travel that far down into Yha’von as is, so some humans are a lil dangerous but others aren’t, explorer Cecile Bellerose being among the latter.
That said, humans and dragons are fairly mixed and inexperienced with them, to the point that cultures in the far North and Eastern regions like Salfir and Niez think they’re mythical creatures. However other insects tend to be more on the aggressive side, particularly the Faras mantis who prey upon them, or the Al’nah, which are a species of giant bees.
They don’t hold any ill will toward humanity though, often keeping a friendly, if often curious presence. Note that they aren’t really capable of fighting, so if they’re under attack by a creature like the Faras or a wandering Draknovi treasure hunter, then they unfortunately don’t often stand a chance.
I see, thanks. What do the Aleta eat? Are their complicated supply chains to get this food to people or are all communities self-sufficient?
The Aleta in particular often feed off of the nectar from flowers and plant life of the sorts, akin to real moths. They especially favor Moonbloons that are often found within the depths of Yha’von. They can also try eating honey found within the sizable Al’nah hives but uh… they don’t enjoy trespassers and angering a swarm of giant bees is about as good an idea as it sounds.
There are also rumors of a moth cryptid spotted by villagers that devours sunlight, akin to a vampire that tries to destroy it’s one weakness, but nobody knows for sure on it’s existence so it’s wrapped entirely in rumor.

I love that
