Stay safe out there everyone. I’m fortunate to live in a part of the country that’s more accepting, but for the sake of the country, I hope this recent anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric turns around.

There was an anti-LGBTQ rally in my town yesterday. A bunch of my friends counter-protested it, but I couldn’t go due to work commitments.

We, allies especially, need to turn the fuck out and let our more judgmental neighbors know that their hateful bullshit is not welcome in “the marketplace of ideas”

For sure. I just can’t understand why the anti-LGBTQ mindset just can’t accept that queer folks just want to be accepted as who they are. Instead, we get rallies that are pretty much people wanting to dehumanize their fellow neighbors.

I know…it’s so frustrating to see people get so agitated and work so hard to keep others from being able to live as their actual selves.

Pride is, and has always been, a riot. It’s defiance in the face of a society that wants to erase us. Even amid the neoliberal coopting of queerness, never forget that. And remember, assimilation will not save us.
