I figured that this would be as good as any for my first post on Lemmy - showing off the entire Discworld Collector’s Library series that I managed to purchase from BookDepository.com before Amazon shut it down. Was able to pickup the whole series for around $500 USD. So glad I was able to get these and never figured I would own the complete set of these nice hardback editions.
I love this hardcover series! Have been buying a few at a time from https://discworldemporium.com. Looks like you got a great deal on the set. Seems as though the emporium has started bundling smaller sets now (like Unseen University Collection, Witches Collection, Death Collection). Will have to look for those sets as I continue through the books!
Yep, if you look close the books actually list what “collection” they’re part of on the spine, I suppose the idea being that they could easily be sorted into those groups. I wanted to put them in published order however (since that’s how I’ve read them), so I used the list on DWE to sort them on the shelves.
Now that is a thing of beauty!
They really are. Had only read them as e-books previously, and was thrilled to have been able to get them at such a price before Amazon shuttered BookDepository.com.
Oh wow, I am jealous. That sounds like a great deal. I really like the hard cover editions, despite how many people seem to feel about them. My collection is a haphazard assortment of older editions I picked up from a used bookstore years ago. One day perhaps I will start upgrading my collection.
You’re not the only one. I’ve got mostly paperbacks, some of them tattered and sun-bleached (but much-loved) copies from the early 90s and others much more recent with completely different art styles and sizes. And then there’s Thud!, which someone gifted me when it came out as a giant hardback so it just totally dominates the shelf!
Having everything match would be lovely, but I don’t mind, every one of those books has memories attached and their haphazardness seems quite on brand anyway.
That is a good way of looking at it
I love these editions! I have all save two I think. A lot of people seemed to really dislike them, but I think they’re gorgeous.
I can’t fathom why people wouldn’t like them. Maybe it’s just an aversion to anything that isn’t the Josh Kirby illustrations. They’re more stylistic instead of goofy, and that’s why I like them.
Yeah I’m not a fan of the Kirby covers, plus I’m a big sucker for hardcovers. So these editions fit me perfectly! Currently holding Feet Of Clay in my hands.
Beautiful! I don’t think I’ve seen these editions before
I’m currently saving up for these the covers are super pretty., I might have to buy them in the little sets rather than the complete collection, it’s a bit expensive for the whole lot in one go.
You (lucky) Bastard! ;)
