I read in another article many players were not updating TOTK so they could preserve duplication glitches. This is looking like whack-a-mole to patch them anyway.

Still on 1.1.1 for me. No way am I updating. Thought I bet nintendo will make using the sages easier in an upcoming patch and then I’ll be sweating because I’ll want that, but not want to lose the ability to dupe.

FWIW, I suck at action games, so I have to expend a lot of time upgrading my armor and getting hearts/stamina. So I end up having to grind. I’m not a fan. What’s weird is that I’m finding myself uninterested in building all of the mech that you’re capable of in the game. That surprised me. I thought I’d love it. Instead, I’m finding it fiddly and that it’s slowing me down too much.

FWIW depending on your playstyle upgrading armor isn’t that much of a chore, by the time I got around to upgrading I generally had the resources (aside from rupees) to upgrade some items. My only complaint really is that the “early game” version of enemies are rare to come by now, so stuff like “frox fangs” are none existant for me since I keep finding obsidian frox :/ (same with blue moblin and construct 1 captains)

Imagine having all the shrines and light things lit up and still only ever encountered 2 normal Frox in my entire playthrough lmao.

Yeah, it’s a weird design decision imo at least for #ToTk (IIRC in #BOTW each fairy sidequest was independent from each other) - if you didn’t start a specific side quest you were left finding all these fairy fountains with no real direction on how to unlock them aside from the instruments. Like I helped some of the band members but it wasn’t until I went to the last two areas I explored where I found the necessary quests needed to start unlocking them lol.

So up until that point I have been using some of the earlier items (namely the blue moblin horns and the contruct 1 horns) as throwaway fusion items for weapons (also rocking the knight armor since my defense was oof with only 3-5 hearts) for a lot of the mid portion of the game.

I am enjoying the game a lot but man the fusion management has me scared when trying to find low tier items for amor being unsure how much of the higher tier stuff I should just save for armor instead of using for fusion. Though I suppose white/silver lynels are easy enough to come by since I marked big monster locations though I don’t imagine every player going in has the hindsight to do that.

Duping works up through 1.1.1 and the duping glitches available are much faster and more convenient than the ones we’ve found for 1.1.2, so it’s possible.

That said, most of the speedrunning community is focused on 1.0-1.1.1 so there are probably more methods in 1.1.2 that we simply haven’t found yet.

I don’t know why Nintendo cares that much about stuff like that. It’s a single player game, let people cheat if they want.
