Man, this hits really hard. But at the end of the day, we should really grateful of what he did in here. Let’s hope we can get as much trophies as possible this year as a proper send off
This saddens me. Also allows us to properly appreciate the last season of a legend. Thank you for all that you’ve meant to us. And all the best for the rest of your journey Jurgen.
I’m very shocked - as I think everybody is. Not long since he signed the contract extension which came with lots of positive words. Exciting team rebuild just getting established and he seemed revitalized recently. I guess go out on a high and not after one season too many?
Sad to hear Pep & co also moving on… although big name managers usually have a backroom team they bring so maybe that’s not unexpected.
The 2026 date segued nicely with the expiry of Alonso’s contact too… Wonder if we can tempt him over early?
Part of me wonders if that’s why Klopp is going now - if the story about Alonso’s contract is correct then BM might have been in for him by the end of the season. This way Liverpool maybe steal a march on that.

Apparently he has a release clause specifically for the 3 major clubs he played for (us, Bayern München and Real) that comes into effect this summer, so fingers crossed! 🤞
I’ve heard the release clause claim stated and also denied. As far as I know, both are just rumours rather than provable fact so who knows! Maybe we’ll find out in May lol
There’s also been a suggestion going around that this is all happening now rather than in 2026 specifically because Real were expected to come calling for Alonso this summer.
Still, 2026 would have been a perfect time. Sure he’s doing very well right now but he’s still incredibly unproven for a top flight position like Liverpool. An extra 2 years might have been useful to judge him better. Heck, two years ago we all thought Gerrard was a managerial genius and destined to return, and now…
Looking back he said he didn’t want to leave the team in a bad state. IMO what drove him the last couple of years was to right the ship. Now that they are back all that’s left is the grind, I don’t blame him for wanting a break.

I really hope that the speculation of this article is right about him possibly quitting club football and not the ones linking him to Barcelona or Real Madrid.
Both for the obvious reason of not wanting one of our best and most beloved managers ever to manage one of our rivals (especially not fucking Real! Other than maybe a Manchester club, that would be the worst scenario possible!) but also for his own sake because managing another huge club right after getting burned out or close to it can’t be good for his health and happiness…
