Norwegian indigenous electro pop group KEiiNO. My favourite song of theirs is Monument https://youtu.be/jQaiarjof2k

I love the joy in their music and the interesting was they incorporate indigenous music traditions and the Saami language. I originally heard them at Eurovision but didn’t properly get into them until a while later.

Have a bunch of memories but a fave is that they were touring Australia in 2019 and had two near sold out shows in Melbourne. I saw a Facebook post about a third show. Seemed suspicious. Wasn’t on the bands website or other places I’d expect to see it listed, ticket price was weirdly low and a venue that didn’t seem to usually do live music was listed. Some friends and I were bored so decided to go see just in case it was real. It was actually real. A dozen fans and a dozen random bar patrons had a great time dancing along to their music and chatting with them between sets

One fave springing to mind is the Minutemen’s magnum opus, Double Nickels on the Dime, which out-punked everything in the US hardcore scene in the early 80s. Varied, clever, original, full of the joy of making tunes w your pals. Genre busting, in a way. Probably listened to this double LP over the years more than any other. Good times.

I was trying to live my life spending as little money as possible back then as a screw you to capitalism, and my guilty pleasure was buying Pink Floyd vinyls in used record stores. The song still gives me chills decades later.

These days I listen a lot to SebastiAn, Knower, Justice, Vulfpeck, Carpenter Brut, Lorn.

Favorite band of all time is #Opeth , even though an ex got me into them decades ago, they’re still my favorite 🥲

Can’t pick a favorite song, but my favorite album is Blackwater Park. I know they’ve lost a lot of fans as their style has evolved, but I also really enjoy their more recent albums.

Fun fact: they formed right around the time I was born, so I went to their 20th anniversary USA tour when I was 20. Already feels like ages ago.

Phish. No particular album, because they’re not really that kind of band. But the first two shows I saw live are now available as official releases (7/16 and 7/17/98). As an kid who grew up steeped in classic rock, and had developed a taste for improvisation, those shows were (and still are) mind blowing.

I just picked up “Aisles”, a cover EP by #AngelOlsen, and the debut album from #WetLeg on vinyl for the turntable I just pulled out of storage.

All time fave is #Genesis, especially the transition album “Duke”
