I’m guessing they are using a conservative symbol to demonstrate the hypocrisy of their anti-trans obsession. If they actually gave a shit about personal freedom like they claim, they wouldn’t be doing everything in their power to shove us back in the closet.

I hope so but I wouldn’t even be surprised if someone would say it unironically. I mean there are TERFs obviously and there are conservative trans people hating on non binaries. There are weird combinations of ideologies.

Just because the libertarians coopted the symbol doesn’t mean we cant take it back

It’s why I have an American flag bumper sticker and a pride sticker on my car

Same with the term “libertarian”. Libertarian socialism is a thing

it’s why I have an American flag bumper sticker

Even if I wouldn’t myself I can understand why some might want to reclaim Gadsden, it used to represent the exact opposite it does today, but the American flag? I guess pledging loyalty to that thing every day really works… What is it that you’re reclaiming there exactly? When did it ever actually represent the things they tell you it has (like freedom and equality for all)?

Like, you do you, just saying - nationalism is a cancer, you’d be much better off without it.

You said it yourself, it represents freedom and equality for all. It’s a national identity and an ideal to achieve.

Just because previous generations failed to live up to their values doesn’t mean that the values are worthless

it represents freedom and equality for all

            Lmmfao 🤣🤣🤣

            No, it doesn’t.

And it NEVER has (nor could it become), which is why what I said was “When did it ever actually represent the things they TELL you it has”.

Your country was literally founded on genocide and the backs of slaves, and on the principals that NOT everyone is equal or free. Every letter in your constitution is written in the blood of the oppressed for the benefit of rich white men.

The “American dream”, along with the idea of “freedom and equality for all” (and the idea that this is somehow a uniquely American concept 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️) are the white supremacist patriarchal cis-heteronormative abled capitalist lies you’ve been told to keep you in place and slaving away making money for the already rich, chasing the imaginary carrot they’re dangling in front of you but have never even intended to let you catch.

I know the American educational system is in a dire state (deliberately of course, to generate and maintain ignorance like that you are displaying here) and that history is written by the victors, but jfc you’ve gone a few extra miles and have your head so deep in the propaganda sand it might pop up in New Zealand any fucking minute…

Just because previous generations failed to live up to their values

They didn’t fail - those who the country was built for and who have sold you these lies have plenty of freedoms and “equality”, it’s those who the country was built on, and by, who were conveniently left out. And here’s a hint based on an assumption based on the space we’re in: you’re never going to be included in the “in” group that gets to enjoy those same benefits.
And here’s another hint: as capitalism decays in to fascism, the disparity of “equality” and “freedoms” between those the system is designed to benefit and those it isn’t is only going to get worse, not better.

doesn’t mean that the values are worthless

No one said the values are what’s worthless, it’s attaching them to a nation (especially one that has gone against those values from its very conception and every step of the way since), and then blindly attaching your loyalty to said nation because of them, _that _ is the problem.

So again - nationalism (especially the kind based on blatant lies) is a cancer, you’d be much better off without it (and clearly with some reading outside of the mandated curriculum. Or even just more conversations with non-Americans, who can clearly see from the outside that the American claims to freedom and equality are nothing more than a really sad joke)

You mean conservatives. A libertarian is not a conservative, and historically supported and still supports LGBTQ+ rights.

That’s where the “I want gay married couples to be able to protect their marijuana plants with machine guns” comes from.

real libertarians have no reason to hate trans people, the people you mean are conservative auth idiots who think they are better than the other conservative auth idiots, but no, I’m not libertarian, I just like snek and “don’t tread on me” is a good message to transphobes imo

As a libertarian I guess that means your cool with selling babies? Removing minimum age work laws? Stopping government waste on stupid shit like regulating food purity?

For a glimpse at a libertarian society just read The Poison Squad, The Orphan Train and The Jungle. It’s a fucking nightmare.
