It is currently Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes with a 90% approval rating, and is regarded as one of the best MCU films by fans.

A sequel, Captain America: Civil War, was released in 2016 by the same directing and writing team, who would later go on to make Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.
