recent: tears of the kingdom, or as i like to call it botw 1.2, its the same thing all over again just with one or two added gimicks, the open world is dead, npcs are boring and nintendo just got away with it like that
not so recent: i cant stand persona 5, joker and his entourage are annoying teenagers, the time management is a horrible gameplay addition and the artstyle is just a visual overstimulation
with that being said,~~ plz dont kill me~~
Elden Ring, I get why the game appeals to so many people, but the entire Soulsborne series as a whole just doesn’t appeal to me (because of gameplay style and fantasy setting).
100% as a 36 year old father of two, who maybe can sneak in 1-2 hours of game time I found absolutely nothing appealing about the experience. I gave up shortly after the first boss – do I suck at video games…probably but I prefer to spend my days just cruising around NMS or other world building games.
I don’t know what people see in that game. Friends talked me into buying it, and it just feels like it’s punishing you for playing it.
First boss annihilates you. Okay, that was an intentional thing. First thing you encounter after that annihilates you. Okay, that’s showing that some enemies aren’t meant to be fought. There are some soldiers, they aren’t too bad, then after you get past them there’s a boss that annihilates you. Well let’s go exploring, found myself in a swamp where just being there kills you.
Okay, that isn’t fun.
Go this way you’re dead, go that way you’re dead, try something new you’re dead, explore you’re dead.
Exactly, I don’t enjoy games that feel like a chore to play. The fact that it doesn’t have a true pause feature is also a major no to for me, I play games to unwind.
