I run a few groups, like @fediversenews@venera.social, mostly on Friendica. It’s okay, but Friendica resembles Facebook Groups more than Reddit. I also like the moderation options that Lemmy has.
Currently, I’m testing jerboa, which is an Android client for Lemmy. It’s in alpha, has a few hiccups, but it’s coming along nicely.
Personally, I hope the #RedditMigration spurs adoption of more Fediverse server software. And I hope Mastodon users continue to interact with Lemmy and Kbin.
All that said, as a mod of a Reddit community (r/Sizz) I somewhat regret giving Reddit all that content. They have nerve charging so much for API access!
Hopefully, we can build a better version of social media that focuses on protocols, not platforms.
Using Jerboa to get into lemmy.ml (when I can … server has been sketchy since the blackout started: to be fair, it feels a bit better in the past hour or so?) and really like what I see. Been on Reddit for 14+ years and the Fediverse experience so far is very like early Reddit: learning curve but exciting to discover new people. Also joined kbin and midwest.social (trying to get an instance into the Fediverse with any kind of access today) but kbin has also been down a lot (good vibes there, too, btw). Got approved on my request for an invite to join tildes but haven’t yet (will later tonight) but expect good things there as well.
Content is absent/wanting everywhere (about as expected given the size comparison of Reddit to the Fediverse) but I’m committed to a spezless existence going forward so will do my part in populating where I’m able. I left the Facebook empire, the Twitter empire, and now the Reddit empire behind me, all mainly because their capitalistic tunnel vision destroyed my user experience (was a RIF user and loved it: they’re shutting down the end of June). I really hope the Fediverse, at least for now, will provide a haven.
