Taiwan’s policy under the KMT was one of economic integration - under the KMT government, both sides were happy under the status quo. Under the DPP, it’s been one of military provocation.

Long before the DPP took power, China started an enorlous increase of its military. As well as its territorial ambitions. I don’t think it’s China that’s afraid of being invaded by the Taiwanese

Have you looked at a map? China is literally encircled by US military bases. Are you surprised that they’re participating in that arms race?

China and Taiwan share the exact same territorial ambitions. That’s a matter of shared policy. Those territorial ambitions also consist of… Literally, uninhabited wastelands and uninhabited rocks.

The US is arming Taiwan because it helps put money into the pockets of American defense contractors and destabilizes a region of focus for American interests. Same reason the US broke the shared China-Taiwan status quo by sailing through the Taiwan Strait.

Why do you view Taiwan arming itself and the US sailing through international waters as more damaging to the status quo than China arming itself and stating they want to take Taiwan?

Because China has no hope of actually taking Taiwan and, while Taiwan was governed by the KMT, was moving towards progressive normalization of relations under the 1992 Consensus?

I’ll ask you to plot a timeline of events in this recent flareup of the China/Taiwan issue… Now ask yourself why the US-funded NED decided to financially back the DPP.
