Tell that to Israel, because they’re going to ethnically cleanse the Gaza Strip because they seem to think differently.

Which was my overall point anyway.

As for me not wanting Hamas, does it matter what I want? My ancestors were genocided a long time ago, I’m white passing and my country doesn’t hunt people like me down anymore. I don’t have any right to tell the people of Gaza who their government should be.

I’m explaining why it’s not my place to tell the people of Gaza how to resist Israeli occupation, colonization, and genocide. If they support Hamas, that’s their business. It’s not my place to tell them they shouldn’t. It’s my place to support their resistance.

And no, saying Hamas is the government is still pretty accurate. Hamas isn’t part of the government, they’re the whole thing. There’s no one else. I do not see a difference between a one-party state and the state itself. The party is the state.

And if Israel succeeds in exterminating Hamas, they’ll also be exterminating Gaza. Which, again, is what’s actually important in this conversation.

You aren’t really explaining yourself, you’re just repeating the same shit over and over.

“One that exercises supreme, permanent authority, especially in a nation or other governmental unit” or “A national governing council or committee.”

Hamas seems pretty damn sovereign to me!

                    🙄

And if you actually look through the article, opinions on Hamas’s legitimacy as the ruling power in Gaza and as a sovereign power worth foreign recognition vary depending on geopolitical context. There are some that treat Hamas as Gaza’s elected government, some that treat it as a criminal and terrorist organization, and everything in between. It’s not clear cut.

I recognize Hamas. Why don’t you?
