I know it’s possible to follow communities on lemmy from a mastodon account, but I was wondering if it’s possible to do the reverse, and subscribe to a mastodon user? I wanted to try and get a combined feed from both platforms - I prefer lemmy, and given it works one way I was hoping it might work the other?

I believe kbin allows you to do this, but not Lemmy. Lemmy seems to be very focused on the communities aspect of things.

If both a group-centric UI as well as the ability to follow microblogging users is important to you, consider checking out kbin.social.

I keep hearing about kbin, is there an android app for that? (Preferably f-droid)

It’s relatively young, so I don’t think so. Though it started as a Lemmy fork, so maybe whatever works with Lemmy works with it? But then, thise probably wouldn’t support the additional functionality.

But it’s mobile site is totally fine.

Yes, kbin doesn’t have a mobile application yet (I have a promising draft in the drawer ;). Currently, I’m observing the situation and considering adapting the API for Mastodon or Lemmy so that existing applications can be used with kbin.

Honestly what I’d love is to be able to use something like fedilab to connect to all of it with separate accounts for each

I can hear the Fedilab devs crying in the distance as new AP platforms rise.

I’m currently using Kbin as a mobile website and it’s not bad. Definitely waiting for an app though.
