They censor no-no words, you’ll occasionally see removed in a comment from a Lemmy.world account.

They’re also emotional children that ban or defederate anyone who disagrees with them.

    Basically, they’re reddit v2.

Hexbear was an absolute shitshow when they defederated from it so I don’t blame them. It’s now merely a shitmonologue. I’m pissed about dbzero, though. Is the word filter a real thing? Because I’ve been baiting people into acting out their malignant racist fantasies through promises of word filters and I’d hate to know that they exist in some capacity.

I think they just ublocked the dbzero. Or at least I saw a post about it recently saying they’ve unblocked the piracy communities. I assume that’s what you’re referring to.

I got the impression that it wasn’t exactly unprompted and that they had been being overwhelmed with take down requests. Like it or not, Lemmy instances do have to follow the laws of their local jurisdiction. Which means responding to take down requests when applicable. The post suggested that until they had tools to better manage that, they had to block them, but have unblocked them now which implies that they have those tools.

Yeah I’m torn here, absolutely fuck hexbear and Lemmygrad, but also, fuck that heavy censorship garbage right back to Facebook where it belongs.

Function first. Hexbear users on hexbear aren’t used to responding to people without reaction image barrages or endless effectively semantical arguments, and most people outside hexbear aren’t fans of that. Defederating the troll instance is just downright reasonable, not even getting into politics. They’ve chilled a bit since the initial excitement over federation. A. Bit.

I’m going to need someone from .world to reply with a few examples of censored words to be sure. Anything from ****** to ****.

            Let’s go!

Shit, fuck, ass, asshole, cunt, pussy, vagina, dick, cock, penis, prick, sex, screw, shag, removed, bastard, bastich, damn, god, removed, removed, motherfucker, unclefucker, horsefucker, suicide, kill yourself, removed, removed, nigga, removed, Margaret Thatcher.

Let me know if I missed a spot.

Edit: Took a while to take effect but now we can see that they remove the long form of removed and “hard r”.

Furthermore the same words got censored on my comments from lemmy.world AND sh.itjust.works, so my guess is that the filtering comes actually from lemmy.ml. Other instances may have a different list.

            Isn’t science fun?

This post is on lemmy.world so you can observe what is censored from my comment for yourself.

Suicide Dead Kill Terrorism Shit Fuck Ass Piss Dick Pussy Cock Cunt Dildo Rape Motherfucker Porn Transgender Lesbian Gay Bisexual

What do we have now? I left out racist slurs because I don’t feel the need to use those in any typical situation.
