Not a stellar example of parenting, though we already knew the parents weren’t awesome because they kept a loaded gun where a six year old could access it. Just because they see and imitate the act doesn’t mean they understand it.
To answer your original question, if a child kills someone with a firearm, you go after the adult who gave the child access to it. Same as if the adult started spinning around in circles shooting randomly and killed someone.
