You can’t guarantee that.
For lemmy there is the app “sync” which isn’t free.
If facebook starts their own mastodon servers, it’s guaranteed to be closed source.
There’s no guarantee.
@beta_tester Hello. So the “sync” is closed source, never open sourced. So ofcourse they’ll have ads and subscription.
And facebook makes a server ON MASTODON then it can’t be closed source and even if somehow that was the case then no one would join it cus that’s the basis of fediverse. So fediverse will ofc remain free & open-source.
In the case of lemmy client, think of jerboa or voyager cus *they* are open-source
