    the show poked fun at this too: the people who were exposed to radiation either died horribly or gained superhuman powers and the only messages from the past that the people were heeded were that of american consumerism & religion; since they built other societies on top of shopping malls, mansions, and churches/cathedrals and also heavily prized (and went out of their way to preserve) american cars that still functioned and fashion as their soldiers’ garb.

    the show did an excellent job in getting their point across without belaboring the lasting impacts of americana; they simply spent a couple of seconds on both the wall or the cultural legacy and went on with the martial arts based sci-fi story that it wanted to tell.
