Can’t we have something cooler than a Saturn icon? Were there some legal issues with the previous one?

We have been exploring things. I think the thing people should realize is that it’s quite expensive to get these done. If you want a solid icon, you’re going to be asked for at least 1000 USD (multiple offers were made for 1.2k and delivery wouldn’t be until September)

On the other side you pay like 100 dollars and get something mediocre. We’d much rather work with community members than go and do something like that (and get better quality honestly) and spend the 100 for nothing.

While we can agree this isn’t a “top tier” icon, I don’t think this is anywhere near a priority right now, especially given the cost.

There has to be some community members that could design a top tier icon for little to nothing?

Maybe for public credit to the designer?

How did Apollo get all those community icons? Mlem has some very similar ones that look great.

Edit: Ah Christian paid them all. Maybe if you have some pay model eventually you could lol.

That’s how we got the current one. If someone submits another icon and gk and i like it we will add it to the app, plain and simple. Nobody has done that though with the new direction we took it.

Edit: we’ve also thought about creating a go fund me to help pay for a professional icon but don’t know how much traction that would get

Right, I understand. Thanks for clarifying it for me. Was hoping that it’s rather a community effort, not you paying for it.
