Expressing an unorthodox political opinion online has a comparable impact to kicking millions of people off their Medicaid. noted ✅

My state went for Harris even with my protest vote. 🤷

You have no idea the effect your words have on a globally accessible service. Your state was fine. This time. But your whining about bLuE mAgA and not voting or voting for Jill Stein could have been seen by anyone. Not even just here, I’ve seen that blue maga crap on TikTok ffs, so you can’t even say “well, it’s not like it was seen by enough people that mattered”.

I voted PSL actually, and I don’t even use tiktok.

That you’re running into the same opinions on there too indicates that this is a broader sentiment and that if younger people are complaining about blue maga it could be a behavior/performance issue from Democrats rather than regarding propagandists on a niche forum poisoning everyones minds.

I doubt that my many international readers had any impact on the election.

The size and reach of Lemmy is nothing like what you are supposing here.

Mainstream media dominates the political discussion amongst the electorate. Viewing Lemmy comments as anything close to being electorally influential or as mainstream is going to leave you with some warped perspectives I think.

        God, I hope so.

If our reach is wide enough that the democrats lost because of us, then it means they have no choice but to win us over if they want to win.

If literally every single person who voted for both Stein and De La Cruz had voted for Harris, Harris would still lose.

The democrats -ruling party btw- lost by such epic proportions that you are really trying ultra mega hard to find someone to blame instead of:

        A) Trash Biden politics

        B) Trash Kamala campaign

        C) Kama being as bad as Trump on key progressive issues like Palestine^1 and trans rights^2

1 - She took more AIPAC money than Trump by a factor of 5

2 - She up and Status Qou Para Bellum’d trans people all while giving progressive votes the middle finger

Dear liberal, what the FUCK did you think would happen when you run a campaign like that?

Now count the how many of the 90 million non-voters didn’t vote out of protest.

Dear protestor- what the FUCK did you think would happen if you did nothing?

Dems only had 14 million less votes (compared to Biden 2020) IIRC and that easily happens when you alienate your own base to go chase after right wing trash who will NEVER vote democrat
