Proton Pass is an open source, end-to-end encrypted password manager app. Create and store passwords, email aliases, 2FA codes, and notes on all your devices
Proton is not “losing focus”, you just have a misunderstanding as to what Proton is. If all you want is a free email provider, you’ve made the wrong choice with Proton. Proton is enhanced privacy and security, and with that, you’re going to make some minor sacrifices in convenience (MailBridge).
The promise of a encrypted email does not work if your contacts are not on proton too (for me was 100% of my contacts).
It absolutely does work. It limits your attack surface. In other words, if someone wanted to get your information, they couldn’t hack into and decrypt your emails, they would have to hack into the accounts of everyone you ever emailed, or whomever you emailed that they want the information from.
While many of their products are undercooked and slow to develop, the email client works extremely well, in my opinion, complete with many features that even the most popular email provider in the world (GMail) lacks. You know, like, being able to block people. And filters that actually work to organize the 40958323490 daily emails I receive against my will.
Currently Proton Pass is pretty bad, but I’m using it anyway because it’s “good enough” to delete 1 more subscription/account (1Password). If you can believe them there is lots of development and features that will be available in only a few weeks.
