For too long imo, piracy had become a “grab it all” environment. The old “Caring is Sharing” mantra seems to have disappeared. So maybe, this Lemmy could revert back 20-30 years to become a real sharing community. IDK.

Tbf if the folders were full of files that said “fuck you [Private] assholes” I’d laugh really hard. People should share and reshare, yes, and I do myself, but auto-banning people who are just starting out or making people beg for your [Privates] is for sure more lame than evading said assholes out of spite. At least that is understandable to me, there’s a human element of pettiness to it that speaks to me, whereas the albeit similarly human trait of lording over your stuff and controlling access neurotically resonates less so, since they’re not physical items.
