My keyboard psychologist also says that person has some kind of codependency issues… but if they’re truly happy, all’s good and I wish them well.

There’s nothing wrong with snitching if someone is unduly threatening you.
I never get back pain, because I get it all in my shoulders and neck instead.

A Boring Dystopia@lemmy.world•Trans people in Kansas are being ordered to surrender their drivers licenses
10·7 days agoNice thought, but the law says “sex at birth”, they probably know it from social security records or whatever. And your “incorrect” license isn’t valid while waiting for appeals… and it’s not like they’d prioritize it anyways. Messed up situation.
Just get a greyhound… it’s basically the same thing, except when they then turn around, and push you out of the bed.

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•New York sues Valve for 'letting children and adults illegally gamble' with loot boxesEnglish
11·7 days agoI think this particular lawsuit is legitimate and should proceed.
How? I’m not a lawyer, but the law says that gambling is when you’ll get “something of value”. The law defining “something of value” includes “exchangeable for money”… But you can’t exchange loot box rewards for money.
I don’t like the lootbox scheme, but it should be coded better into the laws instead of gambling on the courts.

Wtf, isn’t it just pressing a button…? Though I guess you avoid the risk of people forgetting.
It’s also required in Sweden, but the building owner is responsible for installation, whereas the people living there are responsible for testing that it still works.

1 Any person whose personality rights are directly affected by a representation of events in periodically appearing media, especially the press, radio or television, shall have a right of reply.
2 There is no right of reply in respect of accurate reports of the public dealings of an authority in which the affected person took part.
I’m not an expert on Swiss law, but I don’t see any reason that they’d be entitled to a reply…? Let’s hope the courts see it the same way. Bullying small independent media for their factual reporting is just low.

Cybersecurity@sh.itjust.works•PoC Released for Windows Notepad Vulnerability that Enables Malicious Command ExecutionEnglish
3·13 days agoI have is Windows 11 Enterprise, and that doesn’t start the classic… even if I manually invoke that classic notepad.exe from system32.
I have never opened Microsoft Store other than to install WSL2, and I don’t think my company’s admins are dumb enough to provision such stuff automatically, but I dunno. If I uninstall the store Notepad, it’d probably revert back to the classic version, but of course I’d rather uninstall the entire OS…

221·13 days agoNah, that version is the standard Notepad in Windows 11. Unless you do some modifications to disable app aliases and uninstall some stuff, you will never have the “classic” notepad.exe.

42·13 days agoHey grandpa, what does that “push button & turn” thingy do? Handbrake?
Otherwise, etckeeper is nice.
It can be, if you’re driving a non-ICE car and plan your driving. But still usually not worth it.

Nah, but many are too dumb to say no if the opportunity were to present itself.
