Oh, @AbidingOhmsLaw if you could re-identify it’d be great. You were the one who found it initially.
If this feels like Deja Vu, then you’re not insane because I’ve asked this before on \@electronics. I bought parts only to realize the ceramic capacitor I got was too small for me to handle (reading datasheets are important, as it turns out) so the project got back-burner’d until I had time to look at it again. Though I found the original post has been removed due to offtopic and thus all the information I got about it got lost, ergo I’m asking again.
@sweafa Also going to replace the big capacitor next to it since it has some bubbling which I can guess is from getting scorched. I’ll post a follow-up thread on how that goes since I’ll be proud to show my new soldering setup.
@sweafa Maybe. We had a couple of incidents where working with the air release on the filter failed and sent a jet of water around the place including onto the open panel. Open because you need access to the control panel to stop the entire system, which is often amongst other things. Mind there is a cover over the mains-powered components (!) but there’s enough gap for water to find its way in. So it’s not outside reason to think that is what caused its demise.
