  • I have an old gmail account that’s just my first name initial and my last name.

Occasionally I get mails from shady people, like “coaches” spewing pseudoscientific fake psychology bullshit. Turns out there’s a guy that barely knows how to write and has a similar name to mine who regularly gives my address to people.

I tried telling them about the address (there was what I assume was a family contact in CC). I don’t think it registered at all. Makes me rather uneasy.

Farmers have been protesting everywhere, they’ve turned signs upside down here and there as a way to raise awareness. Probably more in rural areas, obviously.

Not sure if for solidarity or just a case of not caring enough, but some places have not fixed the signs since. I know there are a few left in Britanny too.

  • I can imagine that.

Reminds me of my experience with a rhythm game/RPG of sort from some time ago, that had battles being played like Dance Dance Revolution games. Only you had to switch in real time between 3 alternative charts to attack/defend/heal.

It’s probably not actually meant for using with an actual DDR dance mat, but it’s a feature if you want to, and, well, I have mats. However there’s the problem of all those non-arrow commands, like switching panels, and it’s a bit much for just feet. So the way I tried it was using a controller for actions while I stepped to the arrow charts.

My conclusion : coordinating all that stuff is fucking hard.

  • This is what bothered me in the original discussion, making it seem like being in STEM somehow doesn’t prepare you at all for critical thinking in general. On the contrary, I believe too there are people who develop it in part because of the S in there. It’s not necessary, but it’s an important tool.

Hopefully people don’t need a college degree in literature to understand basic subtext. We ask kindergarteners to do that with Dr Seuss.

  • It’s not really streaming, though you need an active Nintendo Switch Online subscription to play them. Each emulated platform has its own downloadable app with all available games.

Basic subscription lets you play NES, SNES, Game Boy (original and color). More expensive NSO+ has N64, megadrive/genesis, GBA.

However after the Wii virtual console, most big third parties have since realized they can sell their old stuff themselves as remakes or collections, so the available library is very lacking in non-Nintendo stuff. Capcom, Namco, Konami, Square Enix are barely there.

However for Nintendo games and a few other good surprises, it’s cool. I mean I get (sort of) free Puyo Puyo Tsu, so, nice.
