  • @Emerald

There’s only so much you can do with infrastructure to make up for the fact that most people want (for multiple good reasons) to live in suburbs.

IMHO we also need to clamp down HARD on landlords/HOAs. A big part of the reason I don’t want to live in an apartment/condo is that there’s a long list of rules I have to strictly obey. No political signs, no letting my cats outside, no string lights outside of Christmas season… Ridiculous.

I would call what’s happening in Palestine beyond Biden’s meaningful control.

He can cease arms shipments to Israel, but not without losing the election by angering the Jewish voters, and then Trump will nuke Gaza and build one of his high-rises on the rubble. That would solve nothing.

Take it up with Netanyahu and his Israeli supporters. They’re the ones who decided to bomb the hell out of Gaza, not Biden.

BTW, Lebensraum involved taking people’s houses, not blowing them up.

  • Truth. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I’d love to see a society where nobody lords over anybody, but I’m not crazy enough to think I can achieve that by burning everything down or putting a dictator in charge.

On the contrary, I consider a classless society to be the social Holy Grail that’s probably only achievable with Star Trek-tier technology. I’m sure it’ll happen eventually, but not today, and that’s okay.
