I’d say if you can reasonably play a few hours a week, it’s going to be a nice addition. It’s all about your use case. Given what you mentioned, it would be a nice device for you, given that you use it enough to justify the money.

I wouldn’t get rid of my LE on the off chance something might break and I couldn’t find a replacement color matched part. Just enjoy your steam deck.

You could open it up and see if it’s misaligned.

204 ppi on the OLED versus 132 ppi on the 3ds. It’s just a pixel size difference. Frankly one dead pixels would be so hard to notice during normal use. I had done minor pressure damage to my old LCD deck when swapping shells, you could see the damage if you looked really closely on a black screen. But normal use, it was essentially non existent.

Update the LCD deck to the highest software, then swap the drives. It’s what I did. And in less than 10 minutes I had my deck fully up and running with 1.5tb of games.

Seems valve did more of a limited time release versus limited quantities. They did mention in an interview they wanted to see how popular a different color would be. So this was likely their test. See how many they can sell in 10 days and then evaluate if it’s worth it to try again.

The device is easier too disassemble and reassemble due to the machined screws and metal posts they go into. But as for the screen, it’s still going to be a nail biter while removing the glue underneath.

Had to wait like 7 months for my 512gb LCD deck. Then just 7 days for my OLED. Think valves doing better, not worse.

Plus, you can’t compare valve to a shipping giant like Amazon. That’s like asking why your high school basketball team can’t beat a pro team. They are in two different leagues.

Imagine comparing a software store front company that decided to build some hardware to ship versus a company like Amazon, apple, Microsoft, or any of the other massive global brands.

Seen issues of mura and green tint on the Samsung panels. Plus a quick Google search will show you Samsung panels can have just as many issues.

I have a perfect LE deck. I don’t have the mura/green tint from a Samsung panel or any dead pixels in my boe panel.

It’s called life, not everything is perfect, that’s why you have a warranty.

Do you hear a very quiet click noise when moving the thumb sticks away from center? Think it’s a design flaw, just curious if others are experiencing it. Not really annoying, but the noise is there. Just very quiet.

It’s not a cellphone that gets thrown in a pocket or bag, it’s a two handed device with a carrying case. It doesn’t need a screen protector.

Only slightly annoying thing I’ve found with my LE is small click noise when moving the joysticks away from center. Think it’s how the joysticks are constructed.

You’re suppose to rma it with original hardware. Best to keep your original drives, just in case.

I just took my 2tb SSD from my LCD and put it in my OLED. Less than 10 minutes and I was good to go. Considering how slow my Internet is, if I’d have wanted to redownload the 1.5tb of games I have, it would take me around 100ish hours, or 4 full days. So swapping the drives was a no brainer.

I use the official dock. Having the support from valve and the fact the firmware can be upgraded is a huge plus.

People were talking how bad the etched BOE screen was going to be on the LE. Then I got mine, opened it up and fell in love. It looks stunning in comparison to the LCD. And I can actually use it indoors with lights and not worry glare.

Don’t mess with any lubrication. If you’re feeling bold, you can disassemble the deck and take a fine sandpaper to the outsides of the button. This should smooth things out.

If you go the disassemble route, make sure to take your time. Slow and steady is the key.
