Maybe a own F-Droid repo could bridge that for now, idk how much work that would be but it would definitely be my favorite solution for now and once development slows down the normal repo could also be a option!

Could you use a custom FDroid repo to bridge the gap till development slows down and you can use a official one or you get accepted in the Play Store or even better both? I am relatively sure Android users would be fine with that solution for now and it would be better than a apk file, especially with so many amazing updates all the time!
