Was console gamer as a kid, built PC instead of getting PS4 in 2013, was a hardcore PC gamer until switch came out and I mainly played that. Hated buying overpriced indies and games on switch and love that my steam deck has replaced it as a happy medium with an already huge library thanks to humble bundles and cheap sales.
Haven’t upgraded my PC since 2016 but SD is making me want to get into PC and modding more. I just played vanilla New Vegas on steam deck, now playing through Fallout 4 with some Bethesda.net built in mods and having a blast. I just love the flexibility of PC and now that we have handhelds for $400 that can play games my first PC struggled to hit 60 on, I don’t think I’ll go back to a console.
There are some games I’ve found like Fallout 4 that perform much better with GE instead of regular proton or experimental. Just watch out that switching GE proton on your game sometimes will move your save files if the game doesn’t have cloud saves. You can still usually find it in desktop mode though
