Sad to hear the biggest no-defed instance is gone, non-defederation is completely the spirit behind why I moved to Lemmy`

I believe (but I’m not positive) that was on account of something else; the script had thrown a network-related exception overnight (I’m in east coast USA, UTC-4) and I didn’t restart it until I woke up. I read a little more about the API specs today and the more I learn, the more I realize I’m doing hacky stuff instead of utilizing the native commands that do what I need. I’m curious if there are certain behaviours that should be done sparingly to be a good steward of your hosting - e.g. does it eat up a lot of HDD space if I subscribe to many communities outside of this instance?

The gif I posted in the other comment is only 1 second and is ~1/10th of an MB, is that content now going to sit on your drive taking up space forever?
