In my experience, I found distro hopping to be a massive pain, as each OS I tried either had terrible performance or a major bug that forced me to change it every week or so. That meant wiping the whole HDD and re-downloading all the software I needed.
In 2022, I hopped from Windows 10 on a 2013 Dell laptop to Linux Mint Cinammon, then KDE neon, Manjaro Budgie and finally Zorin OS, which I found to be the most convenient to use. I also installed Bodhi Linux on another partition in case of breakage.
