Nothing surprising has really been announced. Nvidia has been making ARM chips for a long time and even tried to buy ARM. AMD has been talking about making ARM chips for a decade or more. This does not mean they are abandoning x86 anytime soon.

Either way there shouldn’t be much impact to Framework. Eventually they will probably offer an ARM motherboard option, but I imagine it will be a while given all the headaches currently surrounding the use of ARM for Windows. And Linux for that matter. Vendor support has been abysmal.

I have used 4 1080P monitors through my Dell WD19TB dock. Intel 1360P.

Honestly the Framework isn’t going to be the cheapest laptop if you plan to do a lot of upgrades. If you are upgrading from the 11th gen Intel Framework to the current AMD motherboard, you are going to shell out nearly as much as you would for a new laptop when you factor in the motherboard, RAM, wifi adapter, and possibly new battery.

The ability to be able to replace individual components is incredible and should not be understated. Repair costs are where the Framework excels. It is much easier and cheaper to replace a broken display on the framework than it is a Dell XPS 13. Assuming the motherboard lasts, you can theoretically keep a Framework going for 10 years with minimal costs.

I like that he gives honest reviews based not only on testing but also on using it daily since the first generation. I watched all his framework videos before I made the decision to buy mine.
