Has anyone done a yeast based vegan gravy?
Is making a reduction out of vegetable stock a reasonable way to make vegan gravy, or are there other things that work better?
Mushrooms are the most common way to get umami in vegan gravy afaik
i’ve done so for vegan shepherd’s pie and it’s worked quite well, though you have to be careful with the rest of your ingredients bc most of the salt content is going to be in the gravy
I recently discovered the joy of putting brewers yeast on pizza, it’s amazing. And for my whole life my family has added it to popcorn (I expanded on this by also throwing on powdered garlic/onion). Lots of great uses
