It’s been some time since we received any updates. Will an upgrade to Lemmy 0.19 break the app?
Don’t worry; the latest version of Eternity is compatible with the upcoming 0.19 Lemmy release.
As for the lack of updates lately, I am very busy at the moment with work/uni stuff. I might be able to spend some time on it during the winter break, but I can’t guarantee anything.
“Upcoming”… The Lemmy.ml admins went ahead a couple days after their heads up, and pulled a Microsoft. I have been unable do anything on Lemmy for several weeks, and am now only able to interact with it because I installed Jerboa… It isn’t “upcoming” by any metric.
I know it’s a really terrible move from them, and given the amount of users on Lemmy.ml, probably made a lot of noise for you. But could you please consider releasing the version or Eternity that works with 0.19? Maybe with a disclaimer? I miss it so much, your app rocks…
Ohh, I see. Didn’t realize they went ahead with an upgrade.
The most recent version of Eternity (v0.1.2) should work fine. My instance is also running on the pre-releases of Lemmy 0.19 without any problems with Eternity. Based on my experience, you may need to log out and then log back in.
If you experience any issues regarding this Lemmy update, please let me know.
OMG. I just wish I knew that before. I have had 0.1.2 for quite some time already, and I was mighty annoyed it didn’t work… If only I knew it just was a matter of loging off and back in… 😭
Thank you so much.
Also, yes, there are things that are broken, the “karma” counting is, for example, but I would hardly call that an issue.
I’ll keep you posted if I find broken things that are actually important 😊
Guys… is this your first open source software? This question comes up so much.
The people contributing to this are working for free, when they have time. They may not have time all the time. Sometimes it takes a few week before even a small addition is made.
The last update was October, the bigger one before that August.
Give it time!
What if it is their first time actively using open source software? Do you realize that this attitude scares people away from foss software?
And it’s not only op. It’s also all the newbies that stumble on this post.
