    I don’t know anything about microchips but this reminds me of ‘we’ve got a 15 year head start on the Soviets building nukes’ kind of thing. China’s a superpower, if they want to get it done they’ll get it done. They have effectively limitless resources they can throw at priorities and they have enormous intelligence capabilities (didn’t Trump boast about some giant fucking box he had to go stand in when he didn’t want China listening to his communications?)
