I know the LCD version were all the same and you just could slap on an SSD and be done with it, but now it seems the premium version also has an anti glare etched glass yada yada. Anyone can tell me their experience with the version without that?

Only 512G LCD version came with anti-glare.
You can use anti-glare screen protectors and be done with it.
