Hi, lovely people! I have around 600+ hours on BG3, so yes, I am definitely enjoying it a lot. However, I’m trying to think of what to play next. A few people have recommended Cyberpunk to me, so I did get that, and it runs well. Nooot sure how I like it just yet. Are there any other, like, RPG games, that have character customization, that also run well on the deck?

Thank you in advance! Apologies if this isn’t the right sub to post this on, I haven’t been on Reddit in a hot minute.

Fable Anniversary plays lovely & has great humour - nothing like BG3, I don’t think but it’s a buttery smooth game with chuckles.

The new Shadowrun games are excellent! VERY low-power CRPGs with a nice aesthetic.

Fallout 1 and 2 are good bets, too. They’re old enough that you pretty much have to just rely on your touchpads, but if you don’t mind that they’re fantastic CRPGs that run shockingly well on the Deck. For that matter, Fallout 3, New Vegas, and 4 all run really well.

      Shadowrun

Shadowrun looks like my exact cup of tea. I got Fallout 4 a while back but didn’t progress much. Need to try it again.

IMO BG3 looks and plays like garbage on the Steam Deck, there is so much FSR processing involved that the game looks bad in many areas. Not to mention the controls are horrendous coming from a keyboard and mouse.

Personally, I’d play Dragon Age: Origins :)

Solasta: Crown of the Magister. Less good graphics and voice acting than BG3 but more accurate D&D 5e rules and still great. From a very small developer who have done a great job.

oh DOY? Why didn’t I think of that (not sarcastic, just genuinely why didn’t I think to play 1/2). Have you played it? Is it good?

I played/am playing BG1 on Deck, and it runs perfectly and with battery life out the wazoo to boot. I don’t expect BG2 would be any worse either since the Steam versions are the Enhanced Edition, which all use the exact same engine.

Only thing to be aware of is that you need to use a community control scheme or make your own, since these do not have native gamepad support.

Oh, and be prepared to look things up before/while playing, because these games are pretty old school. But IMO very worth it still in 2023.

Well, I mean I like it! Plus, I loooOOooooOOooove character customization so even when I’m not actually playing, I’m downloading mods to just make characters for hours

    Wasteland 3

Divinity Original Sin (both, tho 1 is a bit dated, but still very good)

    Shadowrun
