I used to have an old Bush TV which was mostly ok with Steamdock + Steamdeck , but I have a newer Samsung TV and man, it just never works consistently. Set it all up, the tv tries and fails to figure out what the device is , so you have to set all the info manually, after which it should work. Now , I say should, because, it almost never works consistently 2 days in a row. What will happen is, it won’t work, I remove everything, reattach and set it up from scratch and eventually get it working. I am briefly happy, then when I come back the next day or after, it just won’t work. The best I can hope for is that removing and re-attaching the usb C from the dock will get it working, but it often doesn’t.

If its not working and you troubleshoot by, say , removing the power supply and hdmi from the dock, it forgets the prior info . So you’ll have to set it up again.

When its trying to determine the device type you can override it by pressing ‘down’ on the remote to indicate its a PC , so telling the tv to just display the visuals/audio, without any extras. But if you do this, it works even less frequently than above, and I have to go through the rigmarole of troubleshooting it almost every time.

I just wanted the dock to be a seemless interface between deck and tv. I have a regular dell docking station for my pc monitor and that works perfectly with the deck, so it seems to be an issue with Samsung TVs more than anything. I have hdmi CEC disabled so its not that.

I was playing it docked over the weekend, took a while to get set up but it was ok for a couple of days. Now this morning, I literally can’t get it working at all with any set up with the Samsung TV. Its really frustrating.

Having problems with mine too on my new Hisense TV. Two HDMI ports will input 120fps just fine, but won’t accept an audio or HDR signal from the deck…? if i use one of the “normal” HDMI ports (not listed for gaming) HDR enables just fine but i’m limited to 4k60 with zero option for higher refresh rates even at lower resolutions.

What’s odd is that my macbook outputs HDR on any port, and 120hz, even on the “60hz” HDMI ports. idk what’s up but it might be a bad implementation on Valve’s end and not the TVs themselves.
