It’s a J. Stevens 16 gauge single shotgun. My grandmother gave it to me and said it was my grandfather’s grandfather’s.

16 ga. is fairly uncommon these days, great great grandfather leads me to think late 19th century? If you can find any stamps or markings, those would all be helpful for identification.
Probably don’t shoot it.
