    A little bit worried with some of the rhetoric from both NZF and National around elections. Seems like they want to reduce voting rights “because it takes too long to count the votes”. I’m sure it’s nothing to do with the fact the later votes tend to go against them…

      There’s quite a lot of rhetoric that appears to have been imported from the USA, and it’s not just here.

      It’s quite worrying, we’re watching a global trend away from democracy towards fascism, and half our electorates are cheering it on because it’s “their team” doing it.

    It’s conceivable for the result to change yet again with the recounts and by-election. National could conceivably gain three more seats through that.

      Yes, but apart from the by-election, it won’t give them any extra seats in parliament. They’ll lose list MPs if they gain electorate MPs, so the overall totals will stay the same.
