Hi,
I’m pretty new to homelab, and want a bit of a handhold into this configuration.
I recently acquired a Dell PowerEdge T320 for the start of my homelab. First thing I did was load Proxmox and start messing around with VMs.
However, now I have a couple of HDDs that I threw in it and I want to setup TrueNAS for network storage on the device. What do I need to do to get this going? I saw some stuff online about flashing the RAID controller into IT mode? What is that? Do I need to do it for this to work? If so, can anyone provide me guide that I can work from?
Super excited to start working on this, has been a lot of fun so far :)
Thanks!
As alternative to TrueNAS since the network storage is the only requirement, you may use Starwinds CVM without HA option. It is not over-provisioned with features like TrueNAS and no need to flash RAID controller into IT mode. Just miss the steps regarding HA and replication. https://www.starwindsoftware.com/resource-library/starwind-virtual-san-vsan-free-configuration-guide-for-proxmox-virtual-environment-ve-kvm-vsan-deployed-as-a-controller-virtual-machine-cvm/
