I wonder, and this is pure speculation mind you, if they don’t use the 12v battery/batteries that they have to use for buggy lights. Batteries, or even perhaps a solar panel, can be wired up to an inverter and provide enough juice to trickle charge a phone, which is probably all you need when you don’t use it very often.
