Feel free to use this thread to discuss this week’s games or anything else going on in Canadian Football!
Last week, the Als seized 2nd in the East thanks to an impressive comeback against the Elks, where they scored the last 32 points in the game I believe. With that, the Als will host the Cats in the Eastern semi-final.
This week, it’s pretty quiet on the Eastern front of the CFL with 3/4 teams getting byes.
The only playoff detail still to be determined is who’s making it into the 3rd spot in the West out of the Stamps and the Riders. The Stamps are 1 win behind the Riders, but they hold the tie-breaker I’m pretty sure. Stamps have 2 games to play, Riders just 1. All three of their shared opponents are top 3 CFL teams this year (i.e., Lions, Bombers, Argos)
Hard to believe the Stamps are still in it, and not only that but that they control their own destiny. Should be an interesting game tonight. Also, Saturday’s Argos/Roughriders game is going to be fun too given the two teams are going opposite directions.
Yeah! By my reasoning here are the potential scenarios of the Stamps and Riders’ fight for the last playoff spot (each can clinch this weekend):
- Riders lose this weekend and Stamps win this weekend - Stamps make the playoffs
- Riders win this weekend and Stamps lose this weekend - Riders make the playoffs
- Both teams win or both teams lose this weekend - The playoff bound team is chosen by the Stamps game next weekend: if they win they make the playoffs, if they lose the Riders make the playoffs
Well, how about that. Stamps actually clinched a playoff spot thanks to their win and the Riders loss.
Go Stamps! I think the seeding between BC and Winnipeg (ie who Calgary would face first round) is still up for grabs
