I think they’ll stick with the conspiracy stuff and rally behind him for the time being, and then eventually he’ll either die or go to jail, and once he’s no longer useful to the party they’ll turn on him properly, then the media will follow, then soon after that you won’t be able to find anyone who ever supported him, they’ll all claim they knew he was full of shit from the start.
Same thing for the people you know who support him IRL, it’s worth remembering who’s behind him now because they’ll probably be the same ones who get suckered in next time a far-right populist dickhead (possibly one of Trump’s kids) pops up and has a go in the future.
