Attempts at nuanced discussions about topics like the Ukraine war or Taiwan that don’t immediately tow the state department line seem to always get dismantled by emotionally charged responses like that.

When I see remarks like this I ask myself, why should I care?

It always come off like an attempt to refuse critical thinking and fall back into a Marvel good vs. evil worldview.

Since Liberals have no theory to back up their worldview, they fight with labels instead. “I’m a progressive/Democrat/European/neurodivergent” etc. Obviously, identity is very important, but the way Liberals use labels and identity is like bonus points in a video game. They use the “winning words” to give themselves +12 discussion points towards winning the argument.

So naturally, all they have to do is say, “Uhm, I’m from X country” smuglord and pretend it’s core to the discussion.

My opinion as an American who has never left their own state is worth infinitely more than a chinese person who moved to america and starts dunking on China because I’m a communist and they are not.

It’s really this simple, unless you develop a materialist worldview your brain is just going to take the easy route of letting the “my family escaped communism” bits reinforce your established biases.
