This issue will become unavoidable in a few years. China is preparing to lay down markers for its lunar south pole moonbase. There’s a relatively tiny area of land there that will be extremely valuable (near permanent sunlight & frozen water). As soon as two groups are sharing it, they will be forced to cooperate.

    I think “forced to cooperate” is maybe a bit optimistic TBH. I’d assume we’ll just invent space guns of some sort, kill each other and eventually just fuck the moon up for everyone. I’m basing that on every human interaction I can think of where there’s been one resource that’s wanted by more than one group.

      That’s definitely been a trend in human history, but I suspect a better model to predict this will be international aviation. Everyone is forced to use common international standards for safety reasons.
